IT Ministry Invites Comments From Public On Proposed To IT Rules And Online Game।

IT Rules 2023: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has today extended the date for suggestions from people using digital media for online gaming and proposed amendments to IT Regulations in the country till January 25, 2023. That is, if you want some amendment in the rules related to it, then you can send it to the IT Ministry. With this, the government’s intention of ensuring a safe, reliable and accountable internet will be fulfilled.

Suggestions sought for amendment

The Ministry of IT (MeitY) has invited comments from the general public on the proposed amendment to the rules. The ministry had notified the IT Rules, 2021, to prevent social media from spreading information that is false and untrue or misleading in nature to its users.

In this regard, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, says, “The draft amendments to the IT Rules are our commitment towards a safe and reliable and accountable Internet. Shows commitment. As carefully practiced by the government, these amendments will also be put through open consultations. To consider, or discuss these amendments or by any other effective means we can succeed in stopping the misinformation, misinformation being spread on the internet by the state.

Fact Check Unit investigates

It may be known that due to the proposed amendment, Fact Check Unit was formed. The Fact Check Unit (factcheck.pib.gov) of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) identifies fake and fake information on any message in Digital Media. Fake information is taken into account through queries sent by the citizens of the country or through e-mail and WhatsApp. Responds with correct information when it pertains to the Central Government. The rule is that other agencies may be included in the list of agencies authorized by the government for such fact-checking in future.

Send advice by 25 January

The IT Ministry had earlier started public consultation on the proposed amendments to the said rules with respect to online gaming, the last date of which was January 17, 2023. The last date for this has now been extended till January 25, 2023. The Ministry has issued a consultation on the proposed amendment in Rule 3(1)(b)(v) of the IT Rules with stakeholders on 24 January 2023.
